KINDERGARTEN

PETITE, MOYENNE & GRANDE SECTIONS

The Kindergarten includes three school years: petite, moyenne & grande sections (children aged 3 to 5). Classes start at 9.00am and finish at 4.30pm. EIB de la Jonchère welcomes students in small classes so as to provide a personalized education for every student. Pupils are supervised by teachers who are aided by kindergarten assistants.

The Kindergarten programme follows the French state education system. Half of the curriculum is taught in English and half is taught in French, to ensure students become bilingual at the end of the primary school.

Children in this stage acquire the essential language skills that allow them to structure their thinking and explore the world. They use language in a variety of different ways, learning to respond and express themselves. They also develop physical activities (fine and gross motor skills) as well as artistic activities.

The classrooms are large and well equipped. They are built to suit the children’s needs. Spacious rooms are adjacent to a large, multi-functional space where children are able to come together and participate in a variety of recreational activities.

In order to develop a sense of mutual respect and belonging, the students at EIB de la Jonchère wear a uniform.

PRIMARY SCHOOL

CP, CE1, CE2, CM1, CM2

The Primary School welcomes students from CP to CM2, ages 6 to 10. Classes start at 9.00am and finish at 4.30pm. EIB de la Jonchère offers a bilingual education that follows the French state education system. Half the school curriculum is taught in English and half is taught in French to ensure the students become bilingual. Students benefit from reduced class sizes that prioritise English or French language learning. History, Geography, Science and Sport will be taught in English. The French curriculum will include French Language and Maths lessons. Students can learn a third language from CE1 (Chinese or Spanish).

Children learn to read and write thanks to proven methods refined for decades at EIB Lamartine and EIB Monceau. Pupils become familiar with Information and Communication Technology (ICT), and other skills they must acquire (coding…) as they use these technologies in their daily work. Teaching strategies are personalised and adapted to each child’s pace and style of learning.

Students develop critical thinking, understand their role within a group and learn how to work in teams. They are taught the values and behaviours that are necessary for their success at school but also crucial for their life as individuals and future citizens. In order to develop a sense of mutual respect and belonging, the students at EIB de la Jonchère wear a uniform.
